Well where do I start. I woke up yesterday morning to a small amount of brown spotting and felt immediately concerned about it. Then some sharp stabbing pains started up on my right side and I thought oh no please not another ectopic - what are the chances of my IVF embryo floating up into my tube - surely not!! Anyways it got worse so I thought f#*k this I'm off to the hospital.
I get to emergency and tell them I suspect another ectopic - I got rushed straight through which was great. Got an ultrasound pretty quickly and was so nervous as to what I was going to see. I saw the sac in my uterus which was amazing and she thought she may have seen the start of the yolk sac but she wasn't sure. She said my tilted uterus was making it hard to see. She then checked my ovaries and said oh dear - I thought oh no whaaaatt. She said wow your ovaries are huge and you've got lots of huge follicles and you've got heaps of free fluid - you've hyperstimulated and that's what the pain will be from. I told her they only got 8 eggs out of me and I had no signs of hyperstimulation at my egg retrieval. She said the doc will talk to me about it after she gives them her findings. So I talk to the doc later and she said I had mild to moderate OHSS and I would have to stay in hospital. So I had to wear special leg socks and they had to monitor my liquid input and output and I had to have my tummy measured etc. I just stayed last night and they finally let me out today after lots of begging (I hate staying in hospital) but they made me promise to go back if I get the pain back or vomiting or shortness of breath etc. So yeah I am home now and feeling ok actually.
Apparently none of this is going to affect the baby thank god. By the way the spotting stopped pretty much as soon as I arrived at the hospital and I haven't had any more which is good. They did check my HCG levels yesterday which had gone up to 6,600 (4 days before it was 2,329) . I was very concerned that it hadn't doubled every 48 hours but I read when I got home that after it reaches 1200 the doubling time slows down to 72 - 96 hours so I guess I'm ok. I am a bit concerned that I didn't see the yolk sac though - I was 5weeks, 5days yesterday so should it have been clearly visible - when did you first see yours???
