Day 26 record

Apr 21, 2012 - 7 comments

My good run is finally over at day 26 having smashed my previous record of going 18 days without leg weakness limping. Darn it! I was so close to making it to 30 so I could officially say I was out of relapse after 11 long months but I will just have to be patient.

Yesterday I started to feel a bit tired but today it feels like a truck has backed over me and I am limping and stumbling like a drunk. I have a very heavy foggy head and all other numbness, tingling, L'hermittes, MS Hug are exacerbated today.

Well, I'm off to celebrate my wellness record of 26 days with a sleeeeeeeep!

Blessings
Alex

I´m sorry to "hear" that. But this proofs that you CAN keep the MS away with your healthy living and strong will. Even though it hits back in between. So get a good sleep and be better by tomorrow :). GO ALEX!

My best,
Dagun

Thank you ladies
I'm a little better today but needed an umbrella for support walking into church. I fit right in with all the oldies and their walkers and canes.
Dagun you are the warmest person I know from Iceland. Jane I am very lucky to call you friend.

Blessings
Alex

I am very surprised this morning to report that I am feeling so much better than two days ago. I had forgotten how debilitating the fatigue can be. I was totally wiped out on Saturday with tremors, cognitive problems, and even caught myself stuttering again. I stumbled into the MS peer support meeting and people commented that it looked like I'd had a few too many the night before. It is funny when even MS people ask what have you done to your legs, and of course I look so bloomin healthy all the time with a suntan.

I am still limping a tiny bit today (Monday) and the fatigue is largely gone, along with L'hermittes and the MS Hug again.

I decided to ride 16klms to work this morning to try to blow off the leg weakness. I figured that it worked when I rode 40klm in the MS bike ride recently and became well for 26 days.

The ride to work took me 1 hour and 20 minutes, which is about 25 minutes slower than when I am feeling strong, but at least I made it safely and feel better for the gentle exercise that comes from using a recumbent bicycle.

So, I feel myself running towards wellness again only two days after being run over by the MS bus. I don't believe that this is just good fortune, luck, having a 'benign' strain of MS. Sept 2016 is when I hope to be better through the power of diet, exercise, sunlight, meditation, and support.

I'm so glad to hear that you're back on the upswing, Alex. I want you to be extra careful on that bike, okay? Riding to work usually means riding on roads with lots of traffic, and recumbent bikes are low to the ground. I don't want anyone running you over!

Why September 2016 of all months? I'm curious...

Hugs,
Jane

Thank you dear lady Jane,

Yes, recumbents are very dangerous but fortunately my path is 95% on a bike path. Just the 5% that can be a bit nasty but my motorcycle riding of 10 years has stood me in good stead to ensure I look out for everyone else.

Sept 2016 is my five year anniversary of being on the Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis program and according to the statistics is when I can expect to receive maximum benefit.

Blessings

I see. I am very impressed with your advanced planning skills, both with the biking and the OMS program. If there's anyone  who deserves success with both, it is you.

Best,
Jane
