Had the dreaded appointment with the consultant yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised that there were 'no nasty surprises' to record on my scan, just the expected cirrosis that has shown. They had expected I believe, to find that some of the nodules may have turned cancerous.
I asked the consultant where this now left me. He told me that if I can remain stable on the medication for 5 years and then I can be assessed, if I then am predicted to have a minimum of another 5 years of a reasonable quality of life, there may be no need to refer me for a transplant!!!
Then he went on to say that realistically, expect a referral to Kings Hospital in London for an assessment. I did comment that I would love to live until a reasonable age, like 70 years or more to which he pulled a face. That was quite scary as I am now 52 and have a great deal of challenges yet to fulful in life.
I will continue as I have been doing and hope for the best. At the moment, the meds are agreeing with me and as I have said, I am not only stable but feel really well most of the time.
I am attending a conference on 5th or 6th December so I will find out a lot more about the condition from that.
