IUI #6 is done.

Jun 20, 2012 - 2 comments

I had my IUI today at 2pm.  It went very fast, and I was out of the room headed home about 10 minutes after I got to the clinic.  I'll start with the good news...DH's total count was 92.9 million. We ended up with 9 million post wash with 59% rapid motility. The not so good news was that the morphology was 0%.

I'm feeling pretty ambivalent about this round now. I was feeling really good with the numbers until I called to get the morphology number. The tech did say that abnormally shaped sperm can still penetrate an egg, so there is some hope, though I'm not holding my breath this time.  The cycle we conceived had pretty much the same numbers, except there was 13 million post wash and 1% morphology then.

I'm pretty sure that this will be our last IUI. We are both pretty done with them. If this one doesn't work, we will be taking the summer off, and will probably try IVF in the winter.

I'm right there with you girl. I don't know how much more we will do in terms of IUI, it just seems like IVF odds are impossible to ignore compared to IUI's :(  I hope neither of us even has to worry about all this and we both get our bfps!!! I'm trying to just not worry too much about this cycle, its all a matter of luck to be perfectly honest, at least that's how I feel.... people beat the odds constantly, best chances can be bfn's and worst chances can lead to bfp's, so I hope we can both just not think too much and stress too much and just pray for the best. If it doesn't work out I just feel like I have to cross that bridge when I get there.  Keep me in the loop, we'll get through this 2ww together :) : )

I just saw your information.   I had 5 IUI's myself and they didn't work either, I ended up getting pg on our own believe that one or not right before we were considering IVF with donor eggs.   I was 42 at the time and dh was 38.   We now have a beautiful 2 year old son.   My 12 year old daughters gymnastics coach just went thru the same thing.   Over the span of 2 years, she has had 6 IUI's...one of them resulted in a pregnancy but it ended before 6 weeks.   She is 37 and just had her first IVF.  they transfered 5 embryos.   One of them did take and she is now 8 weeks pg.  We are still holding our breath for her, but so far so good on everything.   Baby looks good and she's feeling great.    I don't know why they push IUI's so much, I've never heard alot of success on them, but tons of success on IVF.     I'll cross my fingers for you that this cycle worked for you, but if not, I think you are right on track just using your resources towards IVF.   Good luck, my thoughts are with you, I've got my fingers crossed for you.
