I woke up on Saturday July 21st at about 7:45am, with ligament pain on the right side of my stomach. It was very painful, and I didnt know what was going on. It felt like a pulled muscle....
I got up, and ate breakfast, felt a little bit better so I decided to go to a garage sale in the neighborhood. I drove over and was looking around, when this little old man came up to me, and asked if I was having twins. I told him I was, and he said "I knew it, twins"... I asked him if he knew how long I had left, and he said "less then a month"... I told him, right again... I asked him how he knew these things, and he said... "I'm 86, I should know something!"... it was so cute!!
I started feeling really bad again while at the garage sale, so I just went home.
The babies would not sit still that day either. They were moving around soooo crazily!!! It was the strangest thing! They didn't and wouldn't slow down. They were moving, and kicking, and moving and kicking. Non stop!!!!!
I laid on the couch pretty much all morning. I was crying on and off, just because I didn't feel good. My husband had to work, and called around noon. I told him I was feeling really bad, and didn't know why. He figured I had overdone it the day before. While I was talking to him, I told him I felt like I was going to throw up. We hung up, and I did. Then came the (tmi) loose stool :0), I just went back to laying on the couch, crying.
At about 1:30pm or so, I called my close friend that is a nurse, I explained to her what was going on, and she kept me on the phone for a while. While we were talking, she told me..."Melissa, you are in labor!", she estimated the contractions were about 20 min apart. I told her no.... I just didn't feel good!!!... She told me she was going to come and get me and take me to the hospital, and I kept telling her they were going to think I was crazy, and just send me home. She finally pushed enough, and I finally agreed. It took her about 50 min to get to my house.
I called my hubby and told him I was going to go to the hospital, and that he didn't have to come up, cause I was sure they would send me home. He said, "well, I will have to bring you home anyway"... so I agreed, and told him to come on up. When my friend got there, she asked if I wanted to go to the local hosptial, I strongly disagreed and told her to take me to the hosp I planned on delivering in. It was about a 40 min drive. As we drove to the hospital, my friend started timing my contractions(by this time, I was starting to believe her about the labor! lol!!)and they were 9 minutes apart. I still thought they would just send me home. I didn't even take my hospital bag with me. I was so sure.....
We got to labor and deivery, and she dropped me off and went to park. I had to sit on the bench outside L&D, because of the pain, and waited for my friend. I was in tears because of the pain, and felt reallly silly sitting outside crying. LOL. My friend parked and said she was going to get me a wheelchair, then I felt really silly! But, I knew I couldn't make it to L&D by walking. Ha!
After getting hooked up to the monitors, I was told my doc was in another delivery, and they didn't want to interupt her, and I said that was fine. I could then see I was having contractions...the machine was showing them. The babies were still moving like crazy! So much so, that nurses were sticking their heads in the door to see what was going on! They were making so much noise on the monitor!!!
I wasn't dialiting though, because both babies were transverse, and there was nothing to press on my cervix. I was at about 1cm.
I keep saying curse words because of the pain, but kept trying to be quiet, because I didn't want everyone on the floor to hear me scream! haha! I was saying them under my breath... saying I was so glad my mom wasn't there to hear, lol!
My husband arrive around 4:30, at that time we started going through names, and quickly came to the Cameron, and Drake conclusion. It was easy once we were faced with HAVING to do it! tee hee.... My doc finally came in around 5:30pm and ask what I thought we should do, I told her I was there, so lets do it! She said she wanted to monitor me for just a little while longer, I said that was fine, and she gave me something for the pain.
My hubby went to get something to eat in the cafiteria, with my best friend and her husband, and I slept. I woke up during my pain meds with contractions, but drifted back off to sleep. A little while later, I woke up to severe back labor. My doctor was standing in front of me telling me we were going "NOW", she asked where my hubby was and I told her he was in the cafeteria. She said, "well call him, he has 5 minutes to get up here!" Nurses were everywhere prepping me. I called and told him and he came running. I called my parents, who kept asking questions.... I told them I was delivering, either stay at home or get there! I was delivering!!!! That was at 7:00pm
I was wheeled into the operating room, and they gave me my epiderual (OUCH).... and brought my hubby in.
I didn't feel them cut me, and he next thing I new, then they were sayng "Is a girl!", Cameron was born first at 8:04pm. She weighed 5lbs 14oz. I was crying cause God gave me a little girl!!!!
Then, butt first, and screaming before he was even out, came my little boy, Drake. He was born at 8:06pm and weighed 5lbs 11oz. They were both 18in long. i just thought, how perfect!!
After a few minutes, I asked if they had to go to NICU for anything, and was told that NICU had already left!!! YAY!!
I am so glad I listened to my friend, and let her take me to the hospital!!!! It would have been a long day and night if not!!! Although, I really believe I would have had my hubby take me when he got home...... :o)
