Had to call the ENT again

Jan 22, 2009 - 9 comments

When I was there Tuesday, he told me I could have my thyroid out..... hmmm -

Anyway, went in with random eye dull / numbness feeling around the socket and all that other stuff.  The swollen thyroid, etc.

Today, I woke and above my eyelid (right eye) has a dull pressure feeling - the inside - right of my throat is numb (best way to describe it) from the top of my mouth to around where my thyroid would be (inside of throat of course) - tongue has that same feeling on the right only and, my ear goes from numb / inner burning to mild pain.

Right sided of body is possessed.

Waiting on a call from him / nurse now.

Thanks for that.  Its so strange.  I got a call back fromt the ENT, I go in again (was there on Tuesday) at 3:10 tomorrow.  The sensations went away after an hour when I took 2 Aleve.

I have problems with my eyes but it is do to having had graves. My right eye still gets blood shot and has that dull ache you are referring to. I think my eyes get that way when i am going hyper. Have you had your TSH level checked lately?

How is the antibiotic working on the submandibular gland, i was on antibiotics as well, but it did not help me any,,

Let me know how your appt. goes...

I had my levels check Tuesday.  Normal as usual 0.77  This time and I was not on meds. (I took myself off of them for roughly 3-4 weeks.

Guess what -- this stuff is back again.  Internet reading is not helping.  How do ya go about DEMANDING an MRI, the scoping of the nose and throat, etc????

Honestly that was the first thing my ENT did when I saw him first. He did the scope, then set me up for a ct scan. Not that it did any good, he could not figure out my source of pain. It took my Endo's tech to do the ct scan and find everything that was wrong. The two calcified lymph nodes, the calcified ligament, and the infected submandibular gland.

I thought the scoping was the first thing done, like it is part of the exam. Have you ever had a ct scan done of the neck area? Believe it or not I have had about 3 done in the last year of just the neck.

Are you having problems when you eat?

I did have a CT in June and it revealed the enlarged thyroid on right, patchy opacification of mastoid air cell (that has to do with right behind ear) and shotty glands.

Starting to freak about this.  Putting another call into him tomorrow.  No problems eating (anymore) and it has crept up to where my tonsil on the right used to be.  Sick of this and my ear feels full, dull, numb, achy, etc.  STRANGE!  I hate this and this is not my thyroid.

It may be time for another CT scan, in between my scans the lymph nodes, submandibular gland, and a calcified mass had grown.

I know the antibiotics did not help me when it came to the gland. But it could be your thyroid gland enlarging as well. I had and still have pain in the ears, just like you described. I don't think that will ever go away for me.

Try and ask for a ct scan, of course all I kept doing was complaining to my doctor that I could literally open up my neck and take the part that was giving me pain. That was when she knew it was very painful for me, I swear I could have opened myself up and pull the pain out, because I knew where it was hurting and throbbing.

Let me ask you something, does the pain leviate any when you apply pressure to it??
