This has become my mantra as of late. The last few years have been ridiculously challenging, but have also shown me how strong and resilient we can be when needed. Despite all the challenges, I look forward to better days ahead. Silly things, like being able to wear a PAIR of shoes, rather than one shoe and a cast or walking boot on the other foot. Or the realization that despite a really crappy recovery from the brain surgery, I am still here and getting better every day. My symptoms are still here, but the progression has slowed.
I was able to spend 2 1/2 months with my husband home during my recovery. We have never had that much time together in 12 years of marriage. Even better is this took place over the summer so the boys were able to spend the time with us together as well. As my strength returned, we spent a lot of time at our saltwater property watching the boys catch spider crabs off the doc, naming the big jellyfish, we saw Clayton catch his very first fish (a baby flounder) and in general enjoyed time together we all needed.
Hopefully, as my strength returns, I plan to start taking short walks and spending some time volunteering at the kids' school. I can hardly believe how fast my boys have grown! Jon is in 5th grade, T is in 3rd (and in the HICAP program), and Clayton is in Kindergarten! My two MH babies are so big now!
I look forward to rejoining this wonderful community, a place I have missed for so long. Here is a picture of my awesome scar, thankfully my hair covers most of it!
