My main blog is over at LJ, but I figure that my friends there don't really care about all my ailments, so I'm going to use this as my health blog.

So in alphabetical order here's my ailments:

Anemia
When I was told that I am anemic I did some research on it, and what I found didn't seem all that important so I put it out of mind.  A year later I found more information on iron deficiency and the things it can cause.  From peeling nails to chronic tiredness to depression I have all the symptoms, and how!  So I've been trying to remember to take my iron supplement regularly now.  Things seem to be improving.

Anxiety
I've come a long way with my anxiety.  I used to be on 5mg of Klonapin a day for it, now on most days I get by with just B6 (an anxiety miracle), and the occasional Ativan.

Arthritis
Ouch.  My hips and knees are very achy today.  A few x-rays a few years ago revealed that I have arthritis in most of my bones.  The major pain though is in my back, hips, and knees.  Though sometimes my wrists and fingers get achy too.

Bipolar
Current meds for bipolar: Abilify, Buspar, Lexapro, Tofranil.
The big thing for me recently was that I needed my pdoc to stop prescribing me Tegretol...which was horrible for me.  Finally after a few heart to hearts with her regarding Tegretol we discovered that the reason she had me on it was a misunderstanding.  Easy enough, so now I'm finally off that med, yay!  I feel pretty stable lately when I manage to take my meds on time.  (I ran out of Lexapro for a few days and slept for a week until it was back in my system.)

Headaches
I have headaches very often.  I used to take Excedrin for them, until the Excedrin became a major addiction and caused me two stomach ulcers.  I've since switched to Tylenol.

Ulcers
The ulcers are nearly gone.  I mostly forget to take the Carafate for it anymore, because what reminded me to take them so often was the pain.  I've gone down from about 4grams to 1gram a day.  My last EGD showed that one of my ulcers was completely gone and the other was nearly gone, so that's wonderful!

There's more, but I'm tired (Note: Write about sleeping habits).  I'll write more later.  :)

Wow, Abilify, Buspar and Lexapro as well as Tofranil for bi-polar? I seriously think I would get a second opinion on that one!
Tylenol is one of the worst things you can do to the liver. I found that out when a friend of mine was suffering from hep c, and liver failure. Docs told her to take ibuprophen instead as the liver cannot break down tylenol. Toxic stuff there.

Have you tried melatonin for sleep. Non addictive, natural, but check to make sure it does not inactivate the other meds.

If you keep medicating in this fashion, it can only cause other issues long term. Think about a second opinion, please!

Why do you think I should get a second opinion on those meds?  I've tried many medications, almost all the ones out there, and these are the ones that work for me.

I have to take Tylenol for headaches because everything else, including ibuprofen, can cause or worsen stomach ulcers.

Thank you for commenting, but all the meds I take are definitely for a reason.
