Advice Ladies, please. :)

Feb 27, 2013 - 12 comments

Okay I have 2 questions...

1.)  Where can I get good ovulation strips.  I've always used the answer brand and I've always gotten definite positives on those soo, I'm okay with using strips. If you use strips, what brand and where can I find a good deal. :)

2.)  Do you think it's a good idea for me to get preseed also?  I mean I always have a fairly good amount of EWCM but since DH has issue.. would preseed be a good idea to "help" what few good ones he actually has?

I've been taking prenatals for almost or around a month now and DH has been taking his FertilAid for about 3 days.  It was kind of ironic that we got the bad news about his SA the day I was supposed to ovulate :S.  Anyways, it's almost time for AF and I'm going to order now the things I might need for the upcoming ovulation times.  Ty!

This IS never ending. :(

for the opk 's ebay or amazon both have great deals on all kinds of opk  preg test etc . You could use preeseed but it you have a good amount of ewcm  (tmi) but adding preseed might make it too slippery (blushing ) lol and tends to desensitize my man making him not able to finish from being numb lol omg i cant believe i just wrote that but hey we are all ladies and well if it helps ya out then its ok

Lol Retta, you crack me up!  True, we're all adults and ladies..going through similiar if not the same things.  I do have plenty (usually ) of ewcm..I have tried preseed before and thank god he didn't go numb..I know everyone is different.  Can it make it to slippery?  I mean are we talking about sperm slipping out from being so slippery? lol.  I'm trying to think of anything that might help.  I know he has SOME good, not alot but surely some and I hope him taking FertilAid will help. I know this won't all happen in a months time..but IN time I'm praying it makes a difference.  Anyways, Retta, TYSM!! :)

I only used the digital strips. I hate to guess whether i O'd or not. The digital gives you a smiley when you are Oing. IDk anything about preseed though. Have you been tested for clotting issues?? Thinking maybe taking a baby aspirin would help. I didnt have clotting issues but my RE put me on them anyway and I continued to take them until I was 20wks preggo I think.

Tks Mom2boys! :)

Butterflybabies- I have not been tested for a clotting issue.  After the RE did my surgery he said he didn't see any reason I shouldn't be able to get pregnant, but, that was AFTER the surgery. All clean inside and such..not sure if that's the case now. I would use the smiley one but I've used strips forever and they've always been pretty clear..the only thing they did confuse me with is I would get a + for about 4 days..BUT the dr. said only go by the first one no matter how many +'s I got.   Do you think a baby aspirin would help?  I mean, would it hurt to take?

Thank you both!! :)

My RE said even though I didnt need it, it didnt hurt anything to take it. Maybe run it by your doc if your not comfortable taking it. I know alot of women take it to help with implantation ect. Its a small dose so it shouldnt hurt any.

I'm okay with taking it, I trust you and your dr. :)  I wouldnt' think it would hurt either and on the plus side with the clots. I'm with you on that..if it would help with that, it'd be worth it.  tyvm :)

Ty Vantom :)..

I'm looking up the cheap ones..but what is a good brand?  Other than answer?  I see people talking about wondfo or whatever they're called lol..are those any good?

I've only ever used the clear blue fertility monitor... It tests both Lu and estrogen and Ira a little hand held computer thing that reads it so no guess work at all...initial expense I'd big but works out cheaper then the digital opks mo th to month

I borrowed a friend's clear blue fertility monitor.  Used it for about 9 months before she wanted it back to start trying for #2.  We liked it because it was easy to read.  Sometimes we'd get fusterated because it would give a varing range of days for the high ovulation before the 2 peak days.  (got test strips from - good price)  I did end up using the + - sticks for our last month before our bfp.  I liked those because you could see the line get darker each day.  But then when it stopped getting darker, ovaluation had already occured.  We ended up baby dancing every other day starting a several days before ovulation and at least once after.  Else DH would get too tired.  :)  One of the best things for me was to use the ovulation tracker here on MedHelp.  You can start to see patterns from month to month.  TTC is a very fusteration process. So happy you have found a cause to your troubles.  Good luck in the next couple months!

If the preseed makes things a bit too slick, you can always try cough syrup or musinex. Something that thins mucus. As far as asprin, my doctor told me NOT to take it while I was TTC. But I'm an easy bleeder and she was afraid that it would cause issues with implantation and that if I m/c again that I would have excessive bleeding. Just double check with your doc, just in case.

As far as OPKs, I used the answer brand for a couple of months. I prefered the strips because I was able to see a gradual increase in the line so I knew ovulation was coming. Since you're already familiar with that brand, why mess with a good thing.

Best of luck to you! You sound much more positive this week than you did right after the news. I hope there are good things for you on the horizon! :)
