sharing a heart warming story about support

ms story

Hello everyone from Linda

I wanted to share something that happened to me with my ms'  I work up one morning about 15 years ago and both my hands were paralyed.  I lost the use of both of them. My neuro immediatly hospitalized me and gave me a course of steroids.  I was hitting my face and could not feel anything. At the time, I did not know that ms could hit the upper body. I soon learned from the doc, that all this was comming from my brain.  There was nothing wrong with my hands, but the signals were not comming thru to my hands from my brain, I worked so hard with squeezing rice, picking up pennies, using a coloring book (barbie of course) and trying to hold a pencil to write my name.It tool six  months for then to come  back to almost normal.
The pont that i want to get too is my Dear husband put up a chart and graded me on rolling clay, picking up the pennies all the pt things i had to do/  He had to dress me, tie my shoes, and i was frighted to death.that I would not regain the use of my hands again. He made it a game, we laughed and cryed together. The laughter and support from me doing childs little games was the best gift he could have given me  Support is so important, especially if it is light hearted  I got a lot of flunked,LOL

Of course, I got the joke of where did you lose your hands and did you find them?    Laughter is the best medicine

Especially when you are sharing it with someone you love and who loves you in return.  That was a wonderful story.

Hi Linda,
I just went back and read your journal entry - thanks for sharing this.  My husband and I joke a lot about the "what if's" we face with my having this disease.... if we don't laugh we'll not stop crying!

be well,
