Cyst on ovary

cysts on my ovaries

So I went to my regular doctor last week because I've been having stomach pain. She sent me for a cat scan, which then showed a very large cyst on my right ovary. I knew there was something going on. So then I had to get an ultrasound and then see my gyn. The results are not great. He said its not fluid filled and there's blood in it, which usually indicates cancer. He's thinking because of the ivf meds my ovary was just over stimulated and that caused cyst. So my blood levels for cancer markers were slightly elevated. So I have to wait on a referral to a gyn oncologist. Hopefully I will have answers next week and either way I will be having surgery. So that ***** because I'll have an incision from my pubic area to bottom of my sternum. I'm trying to keep my nerves calm and think positive but here lately cancer is running through my family.

Update: so the gyn oncologist was very through and really nice office and the staff were great. So we discussed all the possibilities and decided that a full hysterectomy is best. The only issue is that I may have to have a bowel resection depending on how my colon looks. I go for a colonoscopy on Tuesday just to get a better idea of my Colin, since the cancer marker was up on it too. I'm really nervous because it's a really big incision and spending time in the hospital away from my family. I'm trying to stay strong, but it stinks that there is something unknown growing inside my body making me sick and in pain. But next Friday I will have surgery and all will be better.

I am so sorry hon.  I have cysts all the time, I know it is so hard.  Very few cysts are canceros.  I hope it's just a large cyst.  I hope it does not burst before your surgery; bursting cysts are sooo painful.
Please keep us posted.  Message me any time with questions.  I had a surgery and many cysts over my lifetime.

Thank you Jen. I'm doing better healed from my first surgery, but Tuesday I have to have my second surgery. This one is much more complicated but should fix the problem. The cyst was not cancer, but can reoccur and with this surgery it should slow it down for years to come. It's going to be really hard to leave the boys for a week at a time then not being able to hold and cuddle with them.

I am glad you are healed from the 1st surgery & I will pray the second surgery goes smoothly, &  you have a speedy recovery!  I am glad the cyst was not cancer! Thats wonderful! I know it will be tough to be away from your boys, but remember this might be helping you stay with them for years, 6 months is just a blip in the scheme of things, but it still blows. Just make sure you have lots of reading material & games you can do alone to pass the time. I will be thinking of you! Take care mama!

Thank you ladies for checking up on me. My second surgery went good. No cancer and the chemo treatment was rough but I survived. I've got the all clear from both my doctors so just every 6 month scans for now.

Just came across your journal.  Glad all is well now.  I can't imagine how difficult this has been for you, especially with your two sweet babies.  God Bless!
