Doing Nothing Makes My Pain Level Bearable!

Apr 16, 2009 - 1 comments

Its been a little while since I have written in my journal here. There has been quite a few changes for me as of late. I have an aide that comes in 3 x's a week now. She helps me with showers and does light housekeeping (that causes me too much pain to do)!  It has relieved me of alot of pain to get the help it was hard accepting I really needed it! It was hard watching someone elese doing my housework. But I am getting use to it more. I am Very thankful for this help!

I have a shower chair now so I do not have to stand to take a shower. That has helped. I also have a wheelchair now so when I go to the store I do not have to walk so long. That has helped because the pain of trying to do all that walking exhausts me and when I get exhausted from the pain due to Tarlov Cysts it really makes me irritable!

So as I was explaining to a new friend I made here at MedHelp  I am trying Not to over do it which has been a job in itself!  Accepting that I cannot do the simple tasks I once was able to do has been hard. But what has been harder is ignoring the truth and over doing things and paying the high consequences for it!

I am now in touch with a Dr Feigenbaum from Kansas City Mo. who does surgeries on Tarlov Cysts and has experience with quite a few surgeries.I am waiting to hear back from Him. I sent him my (2) MRI's showing my cysts, plus filled out the patient forms , and other things they requested. I will update everyone when I hear from him.

I am very lucky to have a wonderful fiance who truly loves and cares for me and is willing to do whatever it takes to help me! I am very blessed to have him and my other family members (although they are all out of state). My friends here at Med Help have helped me so Much (Thank You) as has a a couple of Yahoo groups one for Tarlov Cysts and one for Chronic Pain! Of course last but not least God who gives me the strength I need to do what needs to be done to take care of me!

You are a success dwell on the positive things in your life inspite of your pain, I think your Fiance is a lucky man, I had never heard of Tarov cysts till you told us of them ,they dont sound too comfortable, do you sleep okay ?  i have often seen folks in a wheel chair in the store, I have rejoyced they get out to do things but I have often wondered where that stamina comes from..and how I would cope in that situation .The fact you are in touch with Dr Feigenbaum sounds very positive and perhaps some helpful surgery soon, let us know if we can help in any way..  Margaret
