ribavirin

Well, I took my last Ribavirin pill on the morning of the 13th to complete 24 weeks of treatment including 11 weeks on Telaprevir.  Last interferon injection was on the 6th.  Skin is ichy, lots of aches here and there, but I am thrilled to be done.  Awaiting results of the blood draw.  Last PCR was at week 16.  I'm still trying to remember that I don't have to take any more pills, etc.  My Ribavirin dose reduction took me down to 400 mg./day and every now and then I would take 600 mg/day just to keep those levels up, but when I did, there were noticable anemia effects a day or two later.  Seems it stayed in my serum longer than expected.  I hope the 400 mg. /day dose was enough to keep my undetectable.  Still trying to get my head around being done and sitting on pins and needle awaiting the test results.  Thank you everyone for your support along this very long road!  Much love was exchanged and I hope all of you are doing well!

Great news Mark! You did a fantastic job throughout treatment. I really appreciated your support along the way as well and wishing you the best for the future. Getting out of the habit of reaching for the pills is a challenge at first but what a relief when you realize there not there anymore. Take care!

Hi pooh and LN and everyone.  Found out in the wee hours of Tues. morning that I am still UNDETECTED!  Yes!  Now doc wants to see me in 3 more weeks (week 28 since start) to get another viral load check and then of course another one at 12 weeks.  My son says I have more and more energy (been rough housing with him more) and still trying to get used to my new body.  Trying not to get over confident either.  The next blood test will be most telling!  BUT, I am happy to be happy and really appreciated your support.  Glad you are all ok as well!  Best,
Mark
