Alternative to Statin

Dec 07, 2013 - 0 comments

The Dr suggested once again that I take Crestor to get the Cholesterol down they believe the side effects are less but the FDA  website says  Crestor is no better than the rest. I think that the key lies n how effective it is at stopping the cholesterol as the rate of Co Q10 reduction is disproportionate to the HMG CoA reductase inhibition, which reduces the cholesterol production. I said I wanted to check the mechanism of Fibrate as a Cholesterol reduction method before switching from diet + Niacin. Boosting the Niacin to 1000mg seems to have worked HDL is up to 46 mmol/dl. 11/ Dec 2013 HDL now up to 50 and LDL down to 143. Started Statin treatment with Crestor about 3 days before Ratio of TG to HDL indicates LDL is fluffy and therefore unlikely to form unstable plaque that can lead to MI
