Yes indeed my dear!! The Trillium family is a part of the Liliales or Lily order. Cousins you might say!! lol
This member of the Trillium family grows in the eastern US and is called "Trillium grandiflorum" or the "Large-Flowered Trillium". ---- I just call them Trillium's and screw all that Latin Mumbo-Jumbo !! Ha Ha !!
It is different from it's smaller and skinnier sister in the west. It's the largest and showiest of all the Trillium's. Which is why peeps like to grow them in wildflower gardens I suppose. They can be picked and eaten as cooked greens, but if you pick the flower the plant becomes damaged and takes forever to flower again if at all. It's illegal to pick these in Michigan because of this. Which is rather absurd for they grow in the millions!! lol!!!! So every now and then I break the law and pick 2 or 3 where they grow in-mass for my kitchen table. ------- Arrest ME!! :o)
