Hey just looking through my book (what to expect when expecting) and reading about the heartbeat. it says a heart rate of above 140 promises a girl and below 140 its a boy!!!!. Weather thats true or not, only time will tell. I can't wait for my 12wk scan to be able to finally hear mine and try and work out what it will be!! x
I've read that too but you know, at the beginning of pregnancy, it also says that the heart rate peaks, then goes down slightly. So I think the times I've heard it, they were basically in the 140s and 150s, then it spiked to like, 172, then back down again. My last appointment (2 weeks ago), it was 136 (no u/s, just the doppler) so I am thinking it's a boy now. I'll find out two weeks from tomorrow! I guess in the UK you don't even get to hear the heartbeat at all until 12 weeks? Do they have the machines that just measure the heart rate by rubbing a wand across your belly? They're called a doppler here. Just curious -- good luck!
Yeah they do but can't be heard until 12 weeks, most people only have 12 week and 20 week scan, but because we went through fertillity we got the 6 week as well, the heartbeat wasn't strong enough to be heard then, and thats the internal scan, the 12 and 20 will be over the belly and i thinkk thats got an inbuilt heart thingy! not really sure, i'll find out in 3 weeks!!! x
