Best place for shells I've ever been, Northern California in Monteray. May be better spots but I haven't seen them. Certainly no good places in NY..All I ever find around our side is muscle shells or broken unreconizable shells ever so often. But on this beach, you literally are walking on millions of shells, rocks and alot of beautiful sea glass. I love the ocean

I've actually never been to the beach at montauk..it rained all weekend when I went once and I've never been to Fire Island or Moses Field.\
But I would LOVE to go to Fire Island just to go. But truth be told...I detest turist spots in season. Everywhere I go is off season because I just can't stand the crowd and lines and crowds...:)
My FAVORITE place to go when I can is Provincetown in Mass. Right at the tip. Haven't gone shell searching there but because it's basically the Gay capitol of the East Coast(not basically, it is) They have alot of great Art, Resteraunts and just alot of history in that town and culture. I love it there. Next time I go I'll have to check out there shell and rock situation:)

this is a lovely photo with very calming effects.  As I look at it I can hear the ocean and smell the salt air.
My favorite shelling spot has to be Sanibel Island, FL in the winter months when the surf is just right to stir up the shell beds and bring ashore the most amazing examples.
Thanks for posting this bit of tranquility.

Amph,

My Wife and I usually go off season, We found a great B & B in the Hamptons the name is (Bend In The Road)
an artist and her husband own it. Its on a 20 acre farm. Off season it was under $130 a night =0)

LG, this pic defenitly brings back those memories....The ocean wind..the peaceful surroundings with just you and the ocean. It's a spot you can go and just sit completely alone with the ocean waves crashing on the rocks and be in your won little world. It's so peacful and wondeful in that spot. Your making me want to hop a aplne and go:):)
Jimi, that's a great deal in the hamptons off season!!! I'm actully supposed to be going to the Hamptons sometimes soon(when the whether gets a little better...much better) I haven't been in so long, but I love B&B's and a great find is always a treasure. Some place you can return to that you know you'll feel at home and comfortable:)
But I am notorius for hopping plans at the last minute or getting in my car and driving until I feel like stopping,. I guess too much time in one place in not for me. I have a tendancy to show up on peoples doorsteps with no notice(I'm the ruddest!!) But this picture def makes me want to do that right now!! Ya'll may not hear from mr for a while...LOL, I wish

ohh maybe I should put the colored pic up..I made this one black and white because I love the dramatics of B&W or portraying a feeling from them...but maybe in color you guys will be able to see the ocean and the sand much better.
