Did you get your records today? Did it help clarify things? Plenty of women hear to answer questions. Also, were you able to get the referral like you hoped?
I really hope for you that you are seeing some light in the mist of the confusion!

Hi Angel. I answered your post above on white count, but will address it here as well.
That is elevated, but it is not scarily high. You could have an infection you are fighting, but it could be due to stress. Same with the blood pressure. I know you probably don't want to hear that, but it could be. Being in pain can cause those same elevations as well, both of them, and any meds you are taking. I don't know how long you've been taking the Zelnorm, or what else you might be taking, but that could cause the B/P elevations as well. If you are taking any antidiprssant, especially a tricylic, that can raise the b/p but after an adjustment period, it should level out.
I'm going to speak from experience here, so please do not take this personally - I've gained over 50 lbs in the last two years. It made my blood pressure go up. I controlled it with some weight loss and a change in my diet, but then it went up too high anyway so I had to be put on medication, Atenelol. Even on the atenelol, if I don't watch my salt intake, if I have two margaritas instead of one with my Sunday night out to dinner with the hubby, I run in the range you are talking about for about a week or so. My weight issue hasn't changed unfortunately no matter how I eat, whether I strictly follow the dietician's guidelines or not, BUT if I go ahead and splurge on some Doritos, and I'm talking only a couple/few, my blood pressure will go up, and stay up for several days. Not bad, but up there again.
As for your b/p range, if you do some reading, your doctor really should be taking that seriously and talking to you about diet modification, additional exercise, cutting out salt from your diet and all that stuff, and ought to put you on a medication to bring that down. That isn't scary high, but it is high and should be treated, in my opinion, and the way the docs out here view it. Studies show that blood pressure is easier to get under control if we start working on it at this range, rather than waiting. I've been running hot for the last few weeks again, even with my atenelol and will be talking to the doctor about it.
Anyway, hope this helps. I've gone through just what you describe. It's just your weight, just IBS, just menopause, blah, blah, blah, here's some drugs that'll actually make these things worse and see me in a couple of months. . . don't wait until you have a major blow out somewhere. But don't panic either. Love, hugs and God bless, Barb
just wanted to let you know that my white blood count is over 12.000 and blood preasure usully stays at148/88. they just told me that maybe i have an infection somwhere and they never try to find the cause and treat it...they just tell me to continue to take the zelnorm and things should be fine...
Welcome. Just to let you know 99% of ovarian cysts are benign. Also, ovarian issues do cause GI problems. Try to find a gyn/onc only because they are more familiar with your symptoms and the ovarian issues. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Godspeed

Hi Angel.
I was very glad to hear that you had upper and lower GI exams - endoscopy and colonoscopy preferably. IBS is a diagnosis of exclusion. All other reasons need to be ruled out before it is made. I had the IBS diagnosis until I presented with huge pain, and my x-ray showed a blockage, and the the CT showed huge inflammation and infection and diverticulitis - 15 months after the IBS diagnosis. And may I ask, you mention your white count is elevated and blood pressure as well. What are those numbers. White count can be elevated by stress. If your count isn't over 10,900, it won't be seen as a problem. Blood pressure 130/90 isn't considered a problem by many doctors, but recently it is being called moderate elevation and taken seriously and treated. Bottom line though is, if you are concerned, you should be listened to.
Anyway, glad you are here and hope you find some answers. We're all in the same boat. Love, hugs and God bless, Barb
I would definitely get a second opinion! It sounds like endo. I too look 7 mo pregnant. I feel for you! The other ladies on here are very helpful and thorough (sp?). They have helped me tremendously. I wish you the best.

As for the dizziness, I have had many episodes of dizziness over the last months. I haven't been told that it was related to my ovarian problems, but I don't have anything else wrong with me!
Unless the US reports say the cysts are the regular ovulation type (corpus and the other type - descriptions are all over the web) then it's critical to find a new doctor. Just my opinion, but it sounds like this doc is either unknowledgeable or worse. A cyst on an US can be ovca (again rare). However ovca is so aggressive that waiting can cost you exactly what you described - a chance to treat it at the early stages when survival statistics are much better.
I'm glad you are taking initiative to get the reports and taking care of yourself. If he won't give you a referral, is there any way for you to go to someone on your own. I used the web to find a list of gyn onoc in my area. There's a medical society they all belong to and the list with addresses and numbers is on the website for the association (Assoc of gyno onoc or something like that).
If it's just regular ovulation cysts that are appearing and disappearing on the various US's then that is the only way i can see this doctor as making sense. Also the term cyst vs. tumor does seem to get used interchangabley a lot, especially before surgery when they can first tell what it was.
Okay, I'll get off my soap box and think about practical questions to ask. What kind of cyst is it? What size? Simple or complex? What symptoms do cysts cause (it should be more than none)? Why does he think the cysts can not be ovca? Is it the same cysts on this US as on the last US 6 months ago? I'm sure you know many more questions than I do. I really hope you get some good answers that you need. Let us know after the appointment...

oh and my white blood count is elevated has been for about 6 months now...doc says not to worry about it and my blood preasure is higher than normal for me and that has never happened before, could this be more symptoms of oc?
i am going to go tomorrow and ask him to send me to a specialist..i am hoping he will do this for me...if anything to just ease my mind.i know i have heard that docs over look oc and finally find it when its and end stage...is there anything else i could do or maybe ask the doc that will help
I would definitly get a second opinion
the doc didn't tell me the size of the cyst....just said that the us was normal. he also told me that cyst do not cause cancer that tumors do...i thought it was generally the same thing..i am going tomorrow to get my medical records so i can go over them my self and to keep for my records
I'm sorry you have to go through this. Especially the frustration at getting doctors to take proper care of you. As you read though the postings on this site you'll see that all your symptoms (tiredness, pain, bloating, IBS type) can be caused by a cyst (benign or ovca - doesn't matter). Most cysts by far are benign, so no need to panic. However, IBS is a rule-out diagnosis so those cysts should get more attention, especially if you have free-fluid.
Did the US give any indication what kind of cysts? Simple, complex? There are a bunch of cysts that appear often as part of the ovulation process and then usually disappear. So how long have they been hanging around? Do you have a follow up US in 6-8 weeks?
Can you get access to any other doctors, especially a gyn onocologist who is likely to think more about cysts and your symptoms. In the rare case that this is ovca, you want to follow up yourself and not let the doctors waste your time, since it tends to move quickly. I did say "in the rare case".
I had no idea cysts could cause all these symptoms until I started reading here, so I'm sure others will answer who have more direct experience with this. The only symptom I haven't seen posted here is the dizziness, and with all the rest it wouldn't be so strange.
Hang in there!
Cheri
Someone should be along here soon to help you :)
I know for me that i was told when i was 16 that i had IBS and i continued to still have these pains to this day and I am 28. I have endometriosis and i seriously look at least 6 months pregnant.
I understand your frustration doctors are quick to pass the IBS buck thats for sure. I hope you get the answers that you are looking for
