I am pretty scared

This all started 2 weeks ago i had bad pains in my right side stomach area it went in to my lower back. my doctor sends me for a cat scan then calls me and admits me to hospital saying its my apendix and gallbladder a surgeon comes in and says i am ok just need gallbladder out so they schedule it for may.
2 weeks later i still have the same pain and friend tells me i need to get checked for cysts so monday i had a belly pelvic ultrasound. wed the nurse calls me and says i need to see a gyn today they found fibroids and cysts and a bunch of other stuff was said i cant remember what because i was scared.
i am 44 always regular when i had the pelvic exam it was 2 weeks from my last period could that effect it.
sorry so long i lost my hubby 2 years ago and i dont want to leave my 8 year old son with no family.

Welcome to the site.  Just to let you know, 99% of ovarian cysts are BENIGN!!  It is better that you see a gyn/onc as they are specialists in the female reproductive area and have seen everything!  Fibroids are bothersome, but they do shrink after menopause.  There are fabulous women here who have been through it all and will be able to give you even more answers.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.  Godspeed

Do not worry. I had the same pains(I feel for you, god are they painful?!) and I'm fine, it's true that the vast majority of ovarian cysts are not cancerous. Mine grew to a massive 36cm, so must of been in me for a very long time, and was only JUST starting to form to cancer when it was removed. I have faith that you will be fine.
If your confused about what your doctor has said and told you, please do go and find out again. I went to the doctors thinking i had a bloated tummy and left with all this jargon in my head, but the only word that I understood and took in was 'tuma'. I then went back once I had calmed down and was ready to go back to my doctor for the ins and outs. It made me feel a lot more in the know and reassured.

Another reminder:  Drs. use cyst, tumor and mass interchangebly, so don't let that alarm you.

The stress that you have been under, with the pain, the loss of your child's father, and your worries about your health and   upcoming surgery are likely making things worse.  Extreme stress  itself can contribute to slow resolution of normal follicular cysts on your ovaries, and combined with the problems that might be associated with a disfunctional gallbladder (it produces chemicals that assist the body in utilizing food AND removing toxins), there is little wonder that you are having problems.

Please do let us know what the gyn says this afternoon.

It's completely understandable that you're scared but try not to worry as previous posts have said the vast majority of cysts are completely harmless and very common, but we have all been there so please don't think for one minute you are alone. All the wonderful women on this site are here to support you and we'll give you the benefit of our experiences.
I would suggest you write down all the questions you have and take it with you to the gyne appointment, also write down what the gyne tells you because believe me afterwards it's difficult to remember exactly what you're told.

Please let us know how it goes.

Good Lord...a month to get a colonoscopy report?  That must be one rockstar of a doctor you have!  As distant as this site might seem, it is a blessing to have a place at which we can make some contact with women who understand ALL of the different aspects of what we experience.  Let us know how your visit with the rockstar went.
peace,
Anne
