Ovarian cysts weird doctor appointment; advice?

A little history.  Had pain during orgasm and then missed 2 periods.  Started having daily pelvic pain, gas, bloating, etc went to GP and was given a ultasound that reveiled cysts on both ovaries one quite large at 5x8cm simple with thick wall.  Doctor also suspected Endro.  I am 45.  Dr gave me pain pills put me on bcp and sent me to gyn, which I saw today.  The GYN said she didn't think I had Endo, as I was too old.  She also said she didn't think the daily pain I am suffering is from cysts, that cysts don't usually cause much pain.  She took blood for a cancer screening and sent me to physical therapy for massage of uterious.  What?  She wants me to wait another month before we do anything else.  I asked her if it was necessary to be in pain for 6 more weeks and her response was if we do surgery you will have that pain too.  Advice?  Does this sound as weird to you wonder women as it does to me?

I agree - get a 2nd opinion from a gyn/onc!!  99% of ovarian cysts are benign - but yours has reached the size where it needs to come out.

When you call, tell the specialist's office the details about your cyst.

I wanted to see a group at a prestigious hospital in Boston.  They asked me to fax my ultrasound & CT scan results, the doctor looked at them and decided when to see me.

I live in the Seattle area, most specialists are booked out several months.  Any advice as to get an appointment with a gyn/onc?

Thanks again,
Laura

Hello Laurba...I would make an appointment with a gyn/oncologist as soon as possible....it doesn't sound like you are a candidate for the "wait and see club"....I would not wait..I refused to wait and consequently I was diagnosed IC...if I had waited the suggested six weeks who knows...anyway, I would not wait....get a 2nd opinion from a gyn/onc as soon as possible....reproductive tumors are his specialty and that is what you want now...a specialist who will know what he is dealing with and will recognize it without the wait.
Peace be with you and your husband.
