You said that you didn't think that Lyme could affect just one side of the body.
Well, yes, it's VERY possible that your symptoms are due to the Lyme Disease.

What were your presenting symptoms when you were diagnosed with Lyme?
Are these symptoms different?
How long have you been on the antibiotics?

When you are being treated with antibiotics, it's possible for symptoms other than the original ones to surface.
Some people have reported that symptoms that they had many years before came back during treatment.

If you would like to discuss this with other people with Lyme, you can post a query on the discussion group at LymeNet.org.

Wishing you the best,
Carol

my doctor didnt test me for lyme..he seemed to think that lyme tests were very unreliable so he thought it wouldnt hurt to treat me for it because most all of my symptoms pointed to lyme..i have only been on antibiotics for 2 weeks..he gave me a months worth to take...how long does it usually take to see progress with the antibiotics?  i am so stressed about all of this that i think im making my self even sicker..thanks, carol, for the reply

Your doctor is right about the tests not being accurate. Most docs order the ELISA for Lyme, which is right only half of the time.
The Western Blot is more sensitive, but only tests for one to three strains, whereas there are hundreds of Lyme strains.
Plus, people who get Lyme often get one of the other tick borne infections along with it.

Some of the people at LymeNet have reported that their symptoms cleared up on a month's worth of antibiotics, but came back shortly after stopping.
Some people have taken antibiotics for alot longer before feeling better.
Some people did not improve, and further testing showed other tick borne infections that needed to be treated.

So the response to antibiotic treatment varies with the person.
If you post a query at LymeNet.org with your symptoms and history, you can get the opinion of experienced patients about what you should do.
