Glad to help. Please let us know how things are going.
Thank You So Much For All Your Info.
I Do Believe It Is The Summer & The Whole Schedule Change,Etc..
I Really Appreciate The Feed Back :)
Concerta has a duration of 8 hours. So if the mood swings are happening late afternoon or evening then its possible that it is due to the med wearing off. If it happening during the day, then the med could be part of the reason.
If he has been on the med for awhile, its possible that he needs to go to a stronger version - depending on when the mood swings happen. Of course, if he has not been on it very long - then its a different ball game.
Point being - you really haven't given enough information to really know what is going on.
Yes, this is definitely something that you want to talk about with your doctor. BE specific. Tell him when the moods happen. He should (hopefully) know how long your son has been on the meds - but I would remind him of how long.
And its possible that with school ending. Summer starting. Change in sleeping/waking times other things could be happening to effect his mood. By the way - sleep really is a game changer in terms of mood. Is he getting the same sleep he used to get. These long summer nights can screw up a kids schedule. Hope this helps. Let us know what you find out as it will help others!
our son is on concerta he is six... he is taking 36 mg... we think its the medication too....
You have to start somewhere. Assume it is the medication and have it changed to see if his symptoms are alleviated. If not, then it is something else.
