Issues with my kid's behavior

Hi,

My kid is entering kindergarden shortly. He has just finished his pre-school. he just does not do what he is being told..if he is asked to write number 3 for example after being shown multiple times that he just draws a circle :). Basically he does soemthing differnt from what is being told and when asked to learn few things he just tends to walk away. He does not do what he is told to normally. He has been seen in school to play separately in his own way and not by getting along with other children. He tends to count objects incorrectly ie when counting 1,2,3 he skips the next number in sequence and jumps to number like 6 or 9 or even 1 after 3 or 4. He has not fared well in the counting activity at his preschool also. He does not stay put in one activity (even watching tv) for more than a few minutes. The inly exception is while being on youtube watching rhymes and nursery videos.

He talks a lot to us when he wants to but he does not respond at all when called but when we raise our voice to a more serious tone. He hears us just fine but tends to ignore his call. He doesn't like to be photographed or to speak over phone or skype. He doesnt pay attention to his surroundings and tends to hit against objects very frequently. He has also mentions fear of very mundane things (i am not able to point them out now exactly). He has a disturbed sleep generally.

When asked to colour an object he just colours the page randomly. And he still does not pronounce certain words properly. He becomes upset for no given reasons and throws tantrums for doing simple things like bathing and even urinating and excreting. Many times he urinates or passes stool in his shorts and he keeps quiet even after he has passed it already in his shorts. He used to tell us abt these  earlier but seldom does this now.

Having said that he is able to identify cars (he is crazy abt them :)) correctly 9/10 times. He eagerly asks for names of cars. He is clever in the sense that he is able to ***** the mood of others (ones who me gives importance due to fear of their anger like me and his grandpa) and behaves accordingly. He is able to undertsand clearly what he is told and can respond accordingly, sometimes with surprisingly mature responses/behaviour.

Can somebody give suggestions on if these might be due to ADHD and how to overcome this.

Thanks and Regards,
Shankar

I am sorry I did not get back to you sooner, but on vacation in Mexico till Friday and it's tough to access a lot of my links as well as type on an IPad.
Your little guy has all the symptoms of ADHD.  Hopefully, you read the link I sent you from your first post on the child forum?

What is really important right now is to get him diagnosed as that means you won't have to do this all your self.  Are you currently in the US or India?
If getting him diagnosed will be difficult, I can start sending you a lot of information that will really help ...once I get home.
