Strange behaviour fetish for rubber

Hi,

My concern is my almost 9 year old son has it seems this fetish for rubber.  He cut up the rubber off the soles of his shoes and kept it in a shoe under his bed. His teacher also complains that he will use his rubber to create long strands and then keep it in his pensil case. She find that he then does not consentrate. A family members son also ADHD ate the sponge of his bed. Is there a underlining problem or psychological need for something. What is the reason for this?

Well the rubber fetish sounds ok to me. Harmless but the sponge I would talk to a Dr.
