Taking Adderall for the first time

I am 22 years old, I was diagnosed with ADD then ADHD as a child. I quit taking Ritalin and Concerta after Elementary school if not before. I am in College now and my little brother(18) had 30 mg Adderall. So I asked him if I could take one every Tuesday and Thursday before class. So last Thursday 2/11/10 was the very first pill I took. And gah did I feel great, I was focused in on my classes etc. My point I'm getting at is that after taking 3 pills I have had excessive sweating from my hands and armpits. It's horrible. I can hardly hold a pen or pencil. I can see the sweat on the desks. I can not get rid of it. I'm not sure what to do. I am going to see a Doctor on Monday to seek further advice. But I thought maybe i would get some sort of help from posting this thanks.

It sounds like a bad side effect. Definitely talk to your Psychiatrist, and don't take anymore of the Adderall.

I highly disagree with some of those comments. ADD/ADHD can be tested and it is proven that people (including myself) have issues focusing. I have taken Adderall for a long time and never had sweaty hands/feet. I've had opposite where hands and feet are cold. I do get hot flashes though from time to time. Of course it's obvious adderall isn't great to take, however if your doctor prescribes it to you and you don't abuse it, you will be fine. I think the bad side effects happen to those who do not have add/ADHD.

You need to speak with your doctor about your concerns.  They are legitimate.  But your doctor should be the one to help you through this process.  Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Your welcome.  The best thing you can do is get a good night sleep , take Vitamin B6 and Omega 3-6-9 and maybe even B12  just before you go to School every day . And stay away from the drugs even if your doctor whats to give you something. Don't take everything that say as being best for you, you have to look out for your self.
ask the Doctor why they don't check your blood levels to make sure they are not causing you to have a hard time or why they have not done a EEG to see if there something going on in your brain. I would love to know what  they have to say to that.

The Doctors are not going to tell you that the drug is just like taken speed.

And there is no test to prove any one has ADD or ADHD.  Every one learns different and just because some don't learn the same doesn't mean they have ADD or ADHD.And some things look like ADD AND ADHD but really are other things.

To me not worth losing your health  and the side effects of these drugs. Know one has ever died from having ADD or ADHD. But they have died after using these drugs or have come up with other health problems after taken these drugs.

If I were you I would be more concerned with what speed did to my brain rather than what it did to my sweat glands.

I hope you know that adderall has caused death in some people ,they found that some people get high blood pressure and also some have had strokes after taken adderall and some have had heart problems .

to me it wouldn't be worth getting good grades.
also you should never take someone else drugs.

my son has been on adderall and then concerta ,until I found out he was having Seizures witch can also be a side effect from these drugs.

you and your brother should try taken Vitamin B6 and Omega 3-6-9 Vitamins every day,I give my son them now just before his teacher comes to our house to work with him. going to school causes him to have even more seizures.

my son is on medicines for his seizures and had surgery last June and had what they call the VNS put in and it has been turned up about 6 times so far. And we have tried different medicines and so far they have not stopped the seizures.a lot of blood work also and MRI that all come back normal. The EEG shows him having Seizures and not all of them can be seen and they are on both side of his brain.

I live with the guilt that I gave him these drugs with out knowing every thing about them and had I none what they really where and the risk I would have never given them to him, even thou his teacher is the one who wanted him on something because she couldn't handle him.

if your brother sever stops taken them he needs to find out fro his doctor how to stop taken them because you can't just not take them.

Yes, I researched it today. And read that. But I didn't know it would make me sweat so badly. It's embarrassing. Like today I was taking a test and I could not hold my pencil in my hand tight enough. It kept slipping out. Even when I would place my hand on the desk and moved it. I could see sweat just sitting there. I was wanting to take something to help me concentrate. I guess I should see a doc and let him give me a prescription thats best suitable. And Thank you for replying.
