Hello. My six year old son is lagging somewhat in his verbal skills, and we are having him do kindergarten again. We moved during his first year of kindergarten and he was out for a month, we home schooled in between. We moved from a state with easier curriculum and lower standards, to a state and county that has literally the highest standards public education offers. He was completely lost and we tried to catch him up. The weird thing is, the school gave us a big packet of materials and our son actually learned most of the words, shapes, numbers, etc. He did all the flip cwrds with me and I thought he would be fine.
The problem was, he would not do it for his teachers. They sent home his results and he failed everything. All the stuff he missed, he did with me at home with almost no problem! The teacher said that he was just immature and that he needed a full year. The kids in the class generally didnt play with him, he told me that he played alone on the playground and no kids liked him, it hurt me for him.
I know he is smart, he uses my phones for games at times and he flies through apps and games. He hates writing sentences, but he draws pictures like an advanced 10 year old.
Can anyone relate, tell me if these are signs of ADHD, etc?
