Dexamphetamine + Epilim for ADHD

I have successfully been on dexamphetamine for about a month. Today my doctor has also prescribed me Epilim to stabilize my moods that little bit extra. I will be starting it in a few days with a dose of one 500mg tablet twice a day...

Just wondering if anyone can give me a personal insight on the combination of these two medications....any information would be really appreciated because i am a little bit apprehensive about taking it...

Just saw your post to Hatemylife and realized that you are newly diagnosed.  Sounds like you finally got a doctor that can help.  Just wanted to add that there are two very good adult sites for ADD that really give a lot of good (with a personal touch) information.  I think that you might find them helpful as you get to see people going through what you (probably) have gone or are going through.  The two sites aimed at the adult ADD sufferer that you might want to check out are totallyadd.com and http://jeffsaddmind.com/for-first-time-visitors.
Totallyadd is very straight forward and all done with videos which is kind of cool.  But my favorite is Jeffs.  It pulls no punches and has a ton of information.  Unfortunately,  the site kind of reflects Jeff's condition and rambles a bit.  I can lose myself in it and I don't have ADHD so be forewarned.

Thanks for your reply :) I didn't really give much information about my situation, i should of mentioned that i am extremely irritable even by the smallest things, get angry very quickly, get emotional very quickly...the list goes on...

Previously to being diagnosed with ADHD i had a 2 year painkiller dependence, depression and anxiety, which now through research (and also seeing a psychiatrist) i see these behaviors were me "coping" with undiagnosed ADHD. My doctor put me on prozac for the depression which helped the initial depression but the prozac wasn't giving me the benefits it should have been, so after talking to my doctor and explaining my actions he thought i may benefit more from a mood stabilizer so he put me on aurorix, which i thought made my aggression worse so we stopped them. At that stage i had finished my treatment for the painkiller dependence and on no other medication except xanax for anxiety my doctor told me that he was fairly sure i had ADHD so i got referred to a psychiatrist and was diagnosed.

Since being on Dex it has helped with my aggression, moods and anxiety. Just before starting Dex my doctor did tell me that i may need to go on a mood stabilizer as well though we'd see how i go with just being on Dex first. My doctor has written 7 editions of the Australian drug guide, and he's hit the nail on the head with suspecting ADHD when doctors i have been seeing my whole life never even picked up on the fact that i might have it at all!  My mother suspected that i had it when my father was diagnosed with tourettes when i was about 5, during his diagnosis she asked the doctor if i could have tourettes and the doctor said that ADHD can stem from tourettes. Seeing as my father refused medication for himself and my mother was scared of him, i never got diagnosed or treated.

I have done a bit of research on Epilim but i will definitely check out the links you have given me, so thankyou :)

Epilim seems a wee bit strong to just stabilize your moods "that little bit extra".  You might want to google it (as I did) and read up on it.  Pretty good article here - http://www.rxlist.com/depakote-drug.htm
For information on both items - this site is very good.  http://www.healing-arts.org/children/ADHD/medications.htm
You will need to scroll way down to find the section on Epilim.  Look for the section on Mood Stabilizers (for ADHD with Mood and Behavior Problems)
   Hope this helps.
