My 3 year old was diagnoed with ADHD

My 3 year baby girl was recently diagnosed with ADHD.  Her dad has a family history, where basically all nephew suffer from such.  I am a single parent of 3 kids, and I find it extremely hard to cope with her behavior.  She is extremely active, always fighting, calling me names, the whole enchilada.  I found me self yelling all the time.  I try to reason with her and that doesn’t get me any where.  I haven’t seen a specialist for treatment. The doctor has a waiting list till February of 2009. So in the meantime, how can I deal with her behavior? What kind of approach should I have with her? I tired so many things. I just don’t see any changes in her. Please help!

Flat out, reasoning won't work with a 3 year old - not will physical acts.  Post in the  child behavior forum for ideas that will help.  They also recommended this book.  Lynn Clarks' book,  SOS: Help for Parents.  Changes will not happen overnight.  However if you are consistent, with what you do, and you only attempt one or two changes and work on those you will see some success.  Finally, start doing a lot of research.  this will become a lifetime event.  It is doable, but you need the information on how to do it.  Good luck

If your daughter was diagnosed did they prescribe any Meds for her, ? the fact you are yelling will make the issue worse you need to remain calm as it is only making the behavior worse. What happens prior to the yelling and fighting ?
