HELP!!!!!

HI I AM BACK!!!  I am in desperate need for some type of guidance to assist in dealing with my 14 yr. old recently diagnosed ADHD son.  I have posted here before, but I have not received any responses.  I started noticing changes with my son approximately three years ago.  I put him in counseling about 1 1/2 year ago and attended for 1 year.  He is not in counseling now and a couple of months ago, he tried to commit suicide.  The "failed" attempted suicide was due to a one day from school.  We had a somewhat successful conversation over the weekend and he indicated that he can tell when he is going to "flare" up, but when he realizes it, he can't stop them.  I am sure that there are additional things going on with him, but for me the most obvious has transpired all w/in the past three years:  dimished appearance, standoffish personality, disrespectful, disruptive, angry.  Before all of  the changes, my son was very loving, caring, honest, never met one stranger, very respectful and very joyful!!  I anticipate that he is going to change, however, I want to know how to help him before it is too LATE!!!!!

I would keep up the councelling, kids with ADD also need to be disciplined slghtly different as their self esteem can take a beating, I always praise my girls for the good things they do, I need to lay out the consequences of their actions and what will happen and I have to stick to it, you cannot discipline one of these kids when they are angry and frustrated as they will fight more and blame others for their own bad behaviour,

It is often hit and miss with meds as you have to find the right dose, as I have ADD myself I can tell you that it is trial and error, when I have had to high a dose I feel spacey and like my heart is racing, you should feel normal, settled. Puberty does not help either all those hormones thrown in. find a doctor that you are comfortable.

Both my daughters have ADD and since they have been on the correct dose they are doing well, the youngest has gone from a foul temperd brat barely getting by in school to an A student who is much calmer (we still have he odd bad day)  its amazing how she is focused and does not have to be told to do homework (homework used to be a nightmare).  Kids with ADD are quite intelligant and get by, it can be frustrating for them as they know the work but cant get it down on paper. it is hard for them to stay focused, especially when they find a subject boring.

All i can say is. Try putting him back into counseling and try going with him. Also have you tried putting him on medicion, and if so check to see if his body has goten used to it that can also be the cause of what happened. my daughter has very bad out brest when she gotten used to her meds.
