I have had what the doctors term "severe intractable pain" for about 16 years. I've been in pain for about 20. For most of that time, I ran the gambit of opioids from hydrocodone to morphine to fentanyl. If it was on the market, I was eventually told to take it.
I got good relief with opioids, but even at the very beginning, I had a tolerance problem. My mother is the same way. She takes a med once and then she's taking the highest possible dose -- not because she wants to, but because the lower doses do not work. I am the same way. So, I spent all this time roaming, if you will, from one opioid to another, taking the relief where I could get it, but the docs would never give me as much as I needed for relief, even though it was still within recommended dose limits.
In august, I found out about Kratomm. It is an opioid receptor agonist, so while it is not a narcotic, it works similarly to one. Kratom is in the coffee family and is from southeast Asia.
Since I began using Kratom, I have not needed pain drugs often and when I do, I take them at the lowest possible doses. Doses that I used to take now make me ill. However, I still need conventional medicine about 20 percent of the time. I wonder if anyone else had tried this plant and did you find it helpful?
Sorry this is so long.
