ALS symptoms long time until neuro

Hi,
I am a 29 year old Male with various symptoms.
I had twitching all over my body starting around 5 months ago, mostly in my legs, hands and face. After seeing a doctor who said he wanted to wait before sending me to a neurologist I decided to pay for my own EMG and then a nerve study, at least I think it was, (well the one that made my hands twitch and then he used a tape measure? ). He said everything was perfect and completely normal. At first I felt OK but the symtpoms just didnt give up. I am now having diffiulty with saliva in my mouth and feel like I have to swallow every 5 seconds. I feel like words are hard to get out but everyone tell me that I sound fine. My right calf is twitching even as I write this. I went to my doc's again and he said he wasn't worried because foot drop is normally the first symptom of ALS and because of my age. However, he has booked an appointment for a neurologist but this is a while away. My arms seem to hurt and ache really badly all the time and it's a weird feeling like a DULL ache. I seem to have some better days but I am worrying really badly. Any support would be great and even though I know that you cannot give me a diagnosis but any advice would be great I am feeling rather desperate. My girlfirend just says you are gonna be fine and everything will be OK but I am just scared that I will have to tell her it won't be.
Thanks in advance.
Mike

Just remembering some more info.

My lips keep feeling like they are burning and I keep accidentally nipping my tounge, I saw nipping instead of biting cos I don't really bite. It's more like a jerk.
