There are many formulas that help with diarrhea and loose stool.

Did your vet place your dog on Lomotil (diphenoxylate)?  This medication is extremely effective for diarrhea of any cause.

It would be best to find out the specific cause for the diarrhea.  However, if a cause cannot be found than the following is a list of other medications and supplements that do help the gastrointestinal tract: Probiotics, Panacur and other anti-infective, edible Clay, Tylan Powder, Psyllium (great for diarrhea and constipation), Chinese herbal formula's for diarrhea or IBD such as: Shen Ling Bai Zhu, and special diets, such as Low Residue,  and many others.

Since your dog has environmental allergies he may also have food allergies.  Food allergies can cause diarrhea.  If he is not yet on a hypoallergenic diet please ask your vet about the possibility of placing him on one.
