Confused and ni answer from our vet

My vet did a an exam on my dog before x-mas. He was for awhile, throwing up alot, sleeping alot ect.  The took an x-ray and showed a mass. Didn't say what kind nothing at all except he anted to send me south to talk to a specialist. I can't do that, I do not have ther money. But all ths time after, he has been fine. Eating, drinking playing ect. I want to get another x-ray, but its $90 + office fee which is $35. i am wondering if the vet just read it wrong.  Is there a place that does x-rays at a discount? Like the Humane society?

Your vet wanted you to go to the specialist because he/she knows that the best way to diagnose an abdominal mass is with abdominal ultrasound or exploratory surgery in which they could remove the mass or take a piece for biopsy.  Having another X-Ray performed may be less expensive but it will only determine if there is a change in the size or shape of the mass, and will not tell you what it is.

An abdominal mass plus anemia could mean that the mass is a hemangiosarcoma, hemangioma, or hematoma.  Hemangiomas and hematomas are benign masses,  but are blood filled and although benign can rupture and cause damage.

Could you apply for Care Credit?  Care Credit is a low to no interest credit card that can only be used for veterinary or medical bills.  This would give you a long time to pay back any necessary veterinary speciality fees.
