Thank you so much for responding to my post. Unfortunately my dog's vet is closed until Jan 4 2011, and he didn't give me a copy of her blood test. I wish I would have known and asked for one. We didn't do a urine test, do you think it would help if we had one done? If my vet is right, and it is only an infection, shouldn't the infection have cleared by now? She has been on antibiotics for about 5 days. Or does it take dogs longer to clear infections with antibiotics? Also if she had bladder or kidney stones, would it cause her white blood cell count to be elevated? Is there a cure? I'm sorry for asking so many questions, I'm just so worried about her. Thank you for all your help!
If you can post the results of your dogs blood and urine, I can make appropriate suggestions. Certainly fluids and antibiotics are helpful. Abdominal x-rays would help to reveal urinary bladder and/or kidney stones which may or may not be causing your dog to have problems with urination.
