diarrhea keeps coming back

Thank you for reading my question.

My dog (havanese) is one year old ,about 4 months ago he got diarrhea, real bad everywhere, down to watery stool and mucus some blood, I tried changing food, rice, fasting etc but in the end after 10 days took him to the Vet and he was treated with a drip (+ buscopan)+ fasting, treatment didnt work.

Many vet visits + drips + buscopan injections etc.    He then went on a general anti biotic (10 days) and got well, sick again 3 days after stopping the antibiotic.

So he was put back on it for ten days while awaiting a 'culture'.  He had high Ecoli, so the right antobiotic led to a total cure/well so I thought.
6 weeks later it started again, I demanded another 'culture' which came back normal.  He had a drip and fasting, small meals, slowly he came round.  The last few days he has it again.  Through all this he is in very good form + lively.

Through all this he is on a very expensive food, recommended by the vet with high meat content/absolutely no additives . Also he has been given pro biotic paste, many tubes, now he takes 'soil biotics' with every meal.  Help!! Will he ever be normal?  I have spent a fortune and feel I am getting nowhere, just now he did it everywhere.
What would you recommend next?

Your dog has chronic colitis and should be dewormed with panacur and treated with prednisone and metronidazole and a diet called w/d (small meals).
If this doesnt work or it works and the condition returns he should have a colonoscopy to get a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis.

Thank you.  I printed off your answer + the vet considered it carefully.  He will have a colonoscopy this week as she felt it has gone on long enough. I will let you know the final diagnosis
