Weight Gain

hello
i've been bulimic w/ anorexic tendancies for 7 years. last year i lost 30lbs. and kept it off. i stayed at a weight for a year. Now i ate for the first time over the holidays without purging. i weighed myself christmas eve, and again yesterday. Thats 32 days, in which i gained 13.5 lbs. i did eat over the holidays, but went right back to binging, purging, and restricting. So i don't understand how i gained all this weight, or how it's possible even to gain that much over such a short period of time. Thats .5lbs a day. Which seems crazy.
I really need to understand how this is possible, because with no explanation other than i'm a huge pig, i feel like i need to restrict like crazy like a day for each lb without eating sort of restricting.

Thanks. I maintained the same weight with binging, purging, and restricting. but that 13 lbs. has completly throwm me off. Since then i've been restricting a lot and i've lost some weight, but am trying to get back on track, but every little thing is sending me over.
I didn't think you could gain 13 lbs in water weight or slow your metabolism down that much.

I'm sorry to hear you are so tormented by your eating disorder.  How were you able to stay at the same weight for 1 year?  Was it without binging, purging and restricting?  If so, the weight gain could be due to food choices.  Restricting and punishing yourself is your eating disorder voice speaking and it will backfire on you.  Be kind, gentle and patient with yourself.  Seek out your support systems that allowed you to stabilize your weight.  Something was working if it wasn't with the binging, purging and restricting behavior.  If you were doing any of these behaviors, your metabolism or water levels could be thrown off and could contribute to weight gain.  By focusing on your life, expressing feelings and needs, and coping effectively freedom from your eating disorder is possible.  Wishing you joy, peace, and happiness with your self!  Best, Dr Patricia Pitts The Bella Vita Eating Disorders Treatment  Los Angeles, CA
