The family doctor says that some kids just dont eat and he will eventually. The asthma specialist that we took Brandon too in Prince George said tht he was developing within his range. When questioned about why is he throwing up his response was that kids do that and will grow out of it. He has been to the doctors several times within the last year and no one seems to be worried about his issues. They do not even give him blood work. That is why as a Grandma and having 3 kids of my own, does not make sense. He lived on weiners and ceral and would not eat anything else no matter what you said to him or penalized him, positive reassurance did not work. I finally quit buying them and he then switched to chicken fingers. He has been eating chicken fingers for last 4-5 years. He will eat pancakes, bacon, scrambled egg now. But now does not want to eat food tht touches each other. The only soup he will eat is chicken noodle as long as the broth is clear of veggies! To my mind there is a hangup on food in his little mind. Hard to deal with something when Doctors dont think anything wrong. Still trying to find a doctor as they have moved to Alberta and finding a doctor is a big problem there. I wanted to get ahold of a Doctor in his area who would recognize something in this boy and start some tests. They live in the Stettler area of Alberta. Thanks for your response, just makes me all the more determined that it is not just me thinking there is a problem.
Dear granny401,
As I am a psychologist, I will not venture to answer your question directly. What are the recommendations of the doctor who saw your grandson? Treatment? Referrals? Extreme low body weight and malnourishment at a minimum needs to be addressed. Both take a huge toll on the body, especially in children and adolescents. Keep looking for the appropriate treatment.
Best,
