Is there more harm in changing location?

by binnks, Sep 14, 2009 08:30PM
My son has been Home Schooled for the past two & half years. We have been meeting his teacher at the same Library ever since he started, same time, and seats. 1st year and a half he had the same teacher. Year after that he had a new teacher, but she could still meet at the same library, same time and seats. The end of that year his teacher left and had to meet a new one before the year was over. All we had to do was meet real fast and sign papers. He agreed to meet her at the Jack in the Box, so he could have chicken as soon as she left. New year has started and we need to go to our 1st Teacher meeting. I want to know if it is more harm on him to make him go? He seems sad and withdrawn now. He has asked why can't we just meet at our old location. Should I insist on a Teacher closer to the area were the library is at. I feel like I have made so much progress with him. The meltdowns were a nightmare and I don't want to trigger them again. Please if a Dr. or someone with past exp in this subject could answer me back.
Thanks :)

change is really hard for people with aspers, however exposing your child to change and teaching him how to deal with change is a great step towards an independent future
i also homeschool my children, i was wondering why you meet a teacher if you are homeschooling,  are you using the 12k charter?
i would have to know more about this situation before i stated any type of advice, in my experience when you ask "teachers" for help there is so much of a fight to get any kind of service i would have to be convinced that the service i am recieving is worth fighting for a permanent meeting place
i spent 5 yrs fighting battles that were completly a waste of time, if its worth your time fight for the meeting location, if this teacher is as clueless as the ones i encountered, leave it alone
you may want to check out a book called "weapons of mass instuction"

parents of children with learning differences fight so hard to recieve help from mass education programs, sometimes its not the best environment for our children
