Kenalog frequency

by Memommy5, Jan 23, 2008 07:47PM
I am having a great deal of trouble over the past three weeks with allergy related congestion and drainage.  Three weeks ago, my doctor gave me a z-pack and a Kenalog shot and it took care of the problem.  Now, two weeks later, the same symptoms are back, this time due to a huge fire in our area that has made our entire city smoke-filled for several days now.  (Several kids set fire to several cotton modules and it has spread to over fifty at this point) My office is about one half mile from the fire and I now have bad drainage and congestion again.  How often can I get a Kenalog shot?

If the smoke truly is the cause of your nasal inflammation and congestion, it is likely that a nasal steroid spray rather than more KenalogĀ® (triamcinolone acetonide), could provide relief of both inflammation and congestion, especially if used along with nasal washes.  It is not a good idea to take repeated doses of KenalogĀ® (triamcinolone acetonide), if the problem is limited to or primarily in your nose.  A nasal steroid spray decreases inflammation in the nose and sinuses and mucus production.  However it does not provide immediate relief of symptoms.  It may need to be used every day for several weeks to months to notice improvement in your symptoms.  To get the most help from any nasal spray first do a nasal wash to remove mucus from your nose and sinuses.  To learn more about this technique please read our nasal wash treatment information by copying and pasting this address
