Driving myself crazy!

27-month old son with wonderful normal development. Around 20 months he wasn't talking (only saying mama, dada, and dog). He has been in a babysitter's home 4 days a week since 6 months with a little boy who is 3 months older. He doesn't have any siblings.

Very loving, although a little quieter than some kids. He is not the type to cozy up to the stranger at the grocery store but loves to give high-fives and will say hi and bye to strangers. I kept him in a bubble for the first 2 years of his life, so now I am arranging play dates and dropping him off at our gym's little daycare, etc. and I see a difference in him. Plays with kids he knows and seems to love being around kids he is not familiar with. Lots of hugs and kisses, smiles, laughs,  eye contact.

Speech therapy at 25 1/2 months. rapid progress. Answers questions, 40 words, and is just generally coming out of shell. Gestures, pulls us where he wants us to go.

Plays games, does pretend play a little, likes for us to play with him and also tries to get other kids to play. Good at looking when I point to something.

No repetitive behaviors, acclimates to new situations, great sleeper, no toe-walking, hand-flapping, He is very agreeable.

VERY occasionally I see him line his cars up against the wall. Plays with every toy very appropriately. Drives cars all over - but when done he will sometimes put 2 or 3 of them side by side against a wall. I've also seen him line up 2-3 DVD's along the coffee table.

EXCELLENT at pointing at what I ask in a book or environment but he doesn't point things out to me. If there is a dog, he will say dog, but he won't point to it. I noticed the other little boy at the babysitter has started pointing at me when I come in or pointing at something on the TV, but Nick doesn't do it yet.

If he is really engrossed in something will sometimes not respond to his name. Responds 97% of the time, but not always if he is really intent on something.

I do not fully understand what your question is but I expect you want to know if your child has a diagnosis associated with ASD.  While you say your pediatrician says there are no issues if you are concerned you should get your child evaluated by a developmental pediatrician who has lots of experience with ASD to rule out any problems.  Then you can relax or, if there are mild symptoms of concern, make sure they are being addressed.

Also, forgot to add my ped is not worried. Speech path thinks either delay or mild verbal apraxia. No sensory issues.

Have noticed that if a car he wants against the wall will not stay, he gets upset.
