Is this Autism and what can i do

I have a 3yrs old son that can not speak and was resently after serveral tests, was told by the doctor only now that he has autism,he loves playing alot with cars and listen to songs on tv,always like standing directly in front of the tv ,he likes doing things himself and get angry when interupted,he is a little bit hyper, always busy with himself, loves to stay arround mum or dad always, his eating habit keep changing every now and then, hates taken medication no matter what,he does not blisten or take instruction and never likes looking somebody in the face,i live in a place where i think for one reason or the other he is not getting the proper help he needs ,because all that has been done so far, is to put him in a school with purely disabled children, not children with learning difficulty or autism and i don`t see how this will in any way help him, this worries me alot that it might affect his future and well being ,he is such a lovely , beautiful child  my first son ,there is no sign of autism in both familly. I am really very worried for him and am ready go any length to do what ever it takes to get the proper treatments, therapy or attention he need. Is this AUTISM?,can anyone advice me on what to do or where to go,please help.

Thanks
Nathan

Honestly, that doesn't sound like autism to me, it sounds like asperger's syndrome, which is similar, but much less severe.  Boys with asperger's often take a long time to learn to talk, but they general catch up with their peers eventually.  What makes me think that it isn't autism is that you don't describe the repetative self-stimulatory behaviors that so many autistic kids have.  Keep talking to him even if he doesn't talk back, and keep trying to engage with him socially even if he doesn't seem interested.
I don't know what the laws are in your area in terms of what kind of help he's legally entitled to, but find out what your rights are and push to get as many resources as you can.  It may be easier to find resources once he is old enough to enroll in normal public school.  Good luck.
