It depends on the severity of his autism. There is no cure for autism but when therapy is started at an early age, there can be great progress.

I was told early on that the sooner the help, the better the outlook.  I followed that with my child and she exceeded what was predicted for her.  It took lots of effort along the way and lots of people involved in her life.

As KarenDiane stated, there is no cure for autism.  You learn ways to cope and also help educate those around you about autism.  You learn also how to advocate for your child.

Thanks for you alls responses!  My son's therapist hasn't finalized the diagnosis, but she's leaning towards PDD-NOS (Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified).  He is 3 years old, I'm planning to get him as much therapy as possible...hopefully it will help him out because his cognitive skills are kind of low.

Just read a comment you said about therapy for autism the isnt actually and therapy. But there are things that can help make your child cope better with autism such as sensory play, sensory diets, social stories and lots of interaction.
