that's good. I said about the Romberg's because you had eye symptoms and positivity to the Romberg is often related to Optic Neuritis
Yes the ENT guy did that test and so did the General Physician at the hospital. I have no balance issues at all so at the end of the day I guess this may not be heading towards ms at all.
I've had pain in the eyes in the past 3 months, which I believe it's linked to a systemic Rheumatological / Neurological problem. for example I would get pain in the left eye/hand/foot. all on the left side. or pain in the right eye and twitching in the right hand's fingers.
did you try the Romberg's test?
I've actually had my eyes checked with a neuro/opthalmologist and he barely gave me the time of day. Didn't even dilate my eyes. Had a quick look and said everythings fine. He felt that from an eye point of view I didn't really even need an MRI. He talked over me and seemed more interested in getting this over with. I wasn't really impressed but I guess he knows what he's talking about. He said it must be dry eyes and prescribed eyedrops.
I just remembered the very first thing that went wrong with me was late last year......I woke out of a sound sleep and got up for the loo but the room was spinning and it felt like my brain was all on the left side. I had to wall-walk all the way to the loo. Back in bed the spinning would only stop if I lay flat on my back. Next day I was just a little lightheaded but otherwise fine. It really freaked me out, but typical of me I didn't go to the doctor. It was in February when my eyesight suddenly went downhill that I mentioned to the doctor about that one off episode. He wasn't concerned as it hadn't continued. But from April to August I again began to have some dizzy spells. Not room spinning stuff but just not right in the head. And now my main symptoms are all to do with my nerves. It just feels like something major is going on with my nervous system.
I went to my osteopath and she and her colleague held my head to feel the cerebral spinal fluid pulsating through. They both said that it was barely moving. I'm not sure what that means, if anything. I would need to see them every week for a while and I just can't afford that at $70 a time. I'm a bit sceptical I guess.
No sign of infection. I've always been blessed with excellent health. Certainly haven't had any of the things you listed there.
My blood has been tested for copper, zinc, magnesium, b12 and other things too I guess but thats all I know off the top of my head.
My GP initially referred me to ENT specialist to rule out Meniere's because at that time I was having the lightheadedness/dizzyness stuff happening. All clear there. He said my symptoms sounded neurological and referred me for a brain MRI.
Meanwhile an appointment finally came up to see a general physician at the hospital. He said the MRI would rule out brain tumor and MS. He felt that if it showed no lesions then that rules out MS. He said that he could see on his computer screen that I had had a lot of blood work done and he was the one that ordered the copper/zinc/magnesium etc (probably others in there) I also did 24hr urine in case I had elevated something which would indicate too much hormone (maybe endocrine tumor, sorry can't really remember the terminology) All fine.
I had the MRI a week ago and have heard nothing. I assume no news is good news. I have another appointment with the hosp physician on the 29th of this month and he said if the MRI is clear but I'm still having symptoms then he will refer me to a neurologist. Meanwhile I'm just keeping a record of all my symptoms, like a journal and waiting to see what happens. I'm not overly worried. Just confused. Surely this can't all be put down to hormonal fluctuations.
do you remember any signs of infection preceding the symptoms? even apparently unrelated.
-headache
-watery nasal drip
-UTI
-loose stool
-sinusitis
which blood tests did you take? did you go to a Specialist, Rheumatologist or Neurologist for a full autoimmune work up?
the MRI results?
I heard of many other people who got sick around the same time, therefore I must assume that this is about a new strain of Influenza A, almost asymptomatic (I did have mild flu-like symptoms at some stage in February)
if you browsed the general health forums and those related with autoimmune diseases and neurology, you'll find many many similar posts.
since your vision was involved, try a simple neurological test, the Romberg's test, it's often linked with Optic Neuritis.
