Questions on Mumps

Please share ur knowledge, as i am going to get married to my girl friend within 14 days from now. yesterday only my girldfriend had swollen glands on her lower side jaw, and its confirmed by doctor.
1) Mumps are infectious for how many days from the symptoms (swollen gland) shown.
2) i will meet my girl friend after 13 days from her mumps symtoms appear, should i take any precautions
3) Taking MMR vaccination will have any side effects,
4) Taking MMR will immediatly protect from mumps
5) i am 28 years old, during my childhood, once i have taken MMR vaccine, whether this will offer protection
