Transfer Factor -- Anyone With Knowledge on its effectiveness?

My wife is 46 and has had Guillain-Barre Syndrome and now has ongoing auto-immune issues and fibromyalgia.  I read something about Transfer Factors as being useful in helping the immune system and lessening symptoms from both issues.

Does anyone know more about Transfer Factors?  Do they work?

Transfer factors work on the basis that :
- TF is present in the colostrum
-The TF builds the immune system stronger.
-The colostrum is very rich in hormones, and some of the natural
occurring ones among others are: the growth hormone (HGH) and the
Insulin-like-growth factor( IGF-I), the most powerful hormon of all!
-Cow and human IGF-I is bio-identical. So in supplemental TF it is usually from cow's colostrum
- Supplemental IGF-I lasts 10x longer in the body vs the naturally produced
- IGF-I and TF are effective! They do work!

All is good up to the point, that we need to consider the presence of cancerous cells in the body, especially in mid-aged and older people
where the numbers are elevated.
Do those  people need a cancer cell accelerator?  Supplemental IGF-I
would be it. (Too good to be good! Hard to replicate nature)
This one does not pass the test, regardless of the testimonies and advertised claims, just because of the added risk factor for cancer.
There are other methods to boost the immune system safely.
