Elevated IgA- causes?

I'm a healthy 45 yr old female. About 4 yrs ago I had some nausea and went to GI doctor. After testing to rule out celiac it showed an elevated immunoglobulin A level. Normal cutoff was 394 and mine was 451. I did not have celiac and an endoscopy showed mild gastritis. All went away and have felt great ever since.

Out of curiosity, I requested my IgA be tested again by my family dr. a few months ago. I got the results and they are  428 which is still elevated. He didn't seem concerned at all.

Should this concern me or could it be 'my' normal? Thank you.

Dr. Mathur-
Thank you for your kind reply. Yes, I do have sinus issues so that could be a reason.

The gastritis was short-lived and was believed to be a result of extreme stress and lots of coffee ;) Tests were negative for h pylori.

I'm feeling great so I will not worry. Thanks again.

Hi!
A slightly elevated IgA as in your case should not be a cause of concern. Recurrent sinusitis, gastritis (with possible H pylori infection which you should ask your doctor to rule out), etc could be the cause. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
