Confusion

I have been diagnosed with "possible ms". It's been 3 yrs  and i can hardly get in to see my neurologist when I have new symptoms or pain. I have been suffering at home for the past 3 yrs unable to keep a job due to my condition. Now according to the research I have done I have MS. I just don't know what to do I feel like my neurologist ignores me my chart is never updated he never has all my medications on my chart and I am always having to request updates He only focuses on  my old symptoms  and when I inform him of new ones or show him the hard time I have walking he goes right back to my old symptoms like I didn't even speak. I feel ignored and I am tired of not getting what I need. I try to get into see him when I have new symptoms because I know they have to be documented but he is always booked and I am not going into the hospital because I can't see for a few hrs or I get stomach pain they will just send me away. I am at a loss and I am frustrated. Please if you have any ideas or advice what to do I could use the help

Have you been tested for Lyme Disease? If not, I would recommend to try and find a "Lyme Literate" doctor. Alot of your symptoms are familiar to my wife's, who has Lyme. Good luck.

Danielle,

I agree with ohanamama, you need to find a good doctor.  Finding one may not be easy but use the internet to begin your search.  I would start with neurology.  On the Internet find neurologist in your area.  Many doctors have a web site with their credentials.  There are also web sites that will rate doctors.  This includes how they relate to patients and how satisfied patients are with them.

There are symptoms that sound like MS but other symptoms make me unsure.  A lumbar puncture can be done to tell doctors whether you are dealing with MS.  This test is not conclusive but a positive result, inconsideration with your symptoms, may solidify a diagnosis of MS.

If this turns out to be MS, Check out the web site http://direct-ms.org.  The diet on this site might help you find relief from some of your symptoms.

P.S. If this does turn out to be MS and your dizziness is due to vertigo, let me know and I will let you know what I did to completely resolve this issue.

If you have a chronic, long term condition, you have to have a good, working relationship with your doctor, so the first thing I would do would be to find a new doctor.  I went through 4-5 rheumatologists before I found one that was right for me.  My girlfriend doesn't like him a bit, but I think he's perfect.  Even if it takes a while, and you have to drive further than you'd imagine, you will find it's worth it.  You two will be spending critical time together and finding the right fit is critical!  Once you have a trusting, reliable relationship, then you can get going on getting proper treatment.
