autoimmune disorder /hypothyroid?

just to mention i am a 35 year old male annd have posted my story in here somewhere but to cut it short in jan 2010
my tsh level was 91.6 ! was started on 25mcg of levothyroxine and gradually increased to 100mcg throughout the year and seemed to be very slowly(and i do mean slow) getting a bit of relief. but in dec 2010 i seemed to relapse and not sure this medication is working even though my TSH is now 5.2 . i live in england and due to the ridiculous service of the NHS i have my first appointment with an endocrinologist on the 10 feb 2011,a full year since this all began.what tests should i demand and is there  a  reason why this medication has failed! thank you!

One point to consider is the source of the problem.  We have found that thyroditis is a major cause of thyroid problems, and your story about hypothroid problems is not uncommon.  You should consider this, especially if you have other signs/symptoms that could suggest one or more chronic infections.

I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH HYPOTHYROIDISM FOR 6 YEARS NOW. LEVOTHYROXINE  IS A SYNTHETIC DRUG. THEY PLAYED AROUND WITH THE DOSAGE FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS.  I WAS GOING TO THE DOC EVERY 3 MONTHS FOR A BLOOD DRAW.  THEY FINALLY CHANGED MY MED OVER TO A REAL HARMONE EXTRACTED FROM PIGS. THE NAME OF IT IS THYROID.  IT IS MADE BY A COMPANY NAMED ARMOUR. I STILL HAVE TO BE ADJUSTED EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE BUT IT HAS DONE BETTER FOR ME THAN THE OTHER.  I WOULD ASK ABOUT BEING PUT ON THE REAL DEAL INSTEAD OF A SYNTHETIC DRUG.
