You could have tyroiditis or infection of the thyroid gland by some type of chronic infection. This can cause abnormal thyroid hormone levels, and even cycling of abnormal levels.
Possible infections are often difficult to find and diagnose. For example, we found that many patients with thyroid problems and possible thyroiditis were often infected with chronic intracellular bacterial infections (Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, Borrelia, etc.). Usually these patients had additional signs and symptoms, so that is something to look into.
i had chlaymydia which resulted into PID. I was treated for both @ 18 and since then i have had 3 normal pregnancys and births.. I have recently seen my specialist and she says they still dont know whats wrong??? i have since had a new ultra sound which indicates growing in both lobes, also a hypoecic solid nodule which iam being sent 2hrs away to have FNA. My levels im told are now in right range. i just cant wait to find out what it is.... im really over waiting --- Thankyou for ur advise i will look into that i did note on FNA referal it states ? focal lymphocyte thyroditis so u may be right... will keep u updated...
