I broke my record for most IV bags in under 24 hours getting "tanked up" at the hospital!! LOL
As you might assume, yes, I finally hit the tipping point where I couldn't function without a fill-up so I called my cardiologist's office and headed off to the ED yesterday early afternoon. Was there just short of a full day, and took in over 5 L IV plus oral fluids. Mmmmmmmm, fluid-y. :-p I went from nearly taking a header into the commode at the hospital because just trying to move myself from the wheelchair there and back was enough to bring me to the brink of syncope, to being able to walk a lap around the ward this morning with ease. :-)
In other news, for those who had been keeping up with my crusade to get home IV therapy, the ball is finally rolling! My cardiologist appointment last week went well, and the next step is getting insurance approval. That could take a while, but I can have patience now that I at least know the gears are turning. Well, answering a couple posts just now has been my only upright/awake time all day, and I think I'm rapidly slamming into the end of that. The IVs *really* perked me up, but I didn't get enough sleep while I was in there, and now the narcolepsy is in the driver's seat and I need to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......
Take care everyone. For everyone else who benefits greatly from IVs, just a reminder that even though the ED is NEVER fun, getting "the tubes" is always worth it in the end. I could dance a jig right now (if only I could wake up, hahaha).
